Notes About The Poem

Up To the Sky

I gripped-
the edge of the sail boat
sea spray soaked me
the shore-
   was far away
a huge wave took the boat high
up
  to
   the
     sky
then into the pit of the rushing sea
       frothing waves tipped the boat
on it's side over and again
violently but it did not go under
       the deep blue sea
                 loud thundering
the boat leapt and fell wildly
I had this
           sinking
               sinking
                   feeling
then the wind took the sail-
and we headed at breakneck speed
for land
with the wind in my hair
and sea salt on my lips
                           the roar of the sea
and the blazing sun at my back

Love the form. Felt the emotion, and the wind and sun, beautiful imagery.

Beautifully written, especially the cadence which gives the waves the force to make one feel as if he is on that ride. Great imagery which took me back to one of my trips on Lake Michigan. Nicely done!

You captured the sea's turmoil, the sea is a dangerous place and this poem explains it very well.
