September 24, 2023; Placed 1st: Unwritten Absence Contest; By Ink Empress

Rhythms of pulses echo in souls, augmenting tenor of love song, Reminiscing in sanctuary of life, together they shared for long; Yet, memories sadly clamor aloud, since the day she’s been gone, Of nightmares that cruelly shattered, dreams of their avid dawn. Her unwritten absence now perturbs in void of the undone, unsaid, As their unfinished tapestry longs, for stitch of the missing thread; Vying affluence she delivered, to wealth of their beloved yore, Steadfastly defying angst that destiny grievously brought to fore. Unseen, she still occupies, fond yearnings of his moaning heart, Struggling in her absence, since stealthily she decided to part, Missing her hypnotizing smile enriching the fervor of her glance, Nostalgic in embrace of desires, proffering a pledge of romance. Emptiness haunts him now for misinterpreting clues of silent sighs, As regrets torment: how long did her smile, hide her desolate cries; Neither could he sense in her eyes, tacit bawl of love gone awry, Nor could he decipher from her kiss, subtext of her covert goodbye. Curtain may fall, music may end; yet allure of real love never dies, Words of their solemn oath, unwritten absence no longer denies, For bond of love reinvigorates hearts, tolling eternally as time, Strumming passion’s sound of music, enamored in love sublime.

So many find it difficult to breathe, with only half a heartbeat. This is tender and emotional, all at the same time. Such a beautiful thought: the "allure of real love never dies." So true ! Your thoughts caress softly around me, Vijay. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

"Nor could he decipher from her kiss, subtext of her covert goodbye." Brilliant poetry! We are never less for having loved, never a loss or depletion of any sort...love is our bank and connection with eternal joy of being -- all else will change, fade away, but love remains an everlasting companion. Love is the heartbeat of creation. Great read. Thank you.

Dear Vijay this is such a beautifully crafted, expressed poem about the heartache of absence. So well written, flows very well and a great rhyme scheme. So many wonderful poetic lines,’ dreams of their avid dawn’ ‘ unfinished tapestry’’ subtext of her covert goodbye’. Wonderfully expressed. The last stanza is particularly poignant ‘ curtain may fall, music may end’ but sweet echoes of true love will forever resonate. Good luck dear Vijay in the contest. I’m sure it will do well. Hugs and smiles

This is such a deeply aching and heartfelt take for the contest, the melancholy is so palpable in hues of gloom, sigh! When unwritten absence weaves a sombre symphony laced with pain and heartbreaks.. "Yet allure of real love never dies" So true.. There are so many lines that I loved here and I'm sure Ink will truly like this write for her contest.. "Emptiness haunts him now for misinterpreting clues of silent sighs", "As their unfinished tapestry longs, for stitch of the missing thread" Wow

I appreciate how your poem flows as you reflect perhaps on a love lost. Regrets can torment us when we've lost a relationship. The absence is hard to handle. You're right, the allure of real love never dies. Took me a long time with lots of heart ache before I found my soulmate. Love is sublime, even when our relationship isn't. That's comforting. A great poem for the contest, Sara

A FAV, Vijay and an excellent entry for the contest. It shouldn't need luck. Your words resonate with my heart and soul, fortunately, Sara and I haven't had this experience yet. You bare your soul, and it speaks to us of true-life experiences, the hidden parts of life that we missed or now remember. The joys and sadness of two lives shared as one. Thanks for sharing this with us. Bill
