Untouched By the Storm
Living your life with no emotion is so much easier when you do not feel
Giving little for what you get, no tears to shed; now you're strong as steel
You've built a wall, keeping people out.
Don't let anyone inside your protective shell.
Push the one's you care for away.
Don't let anyone in your man made hell.
As life rages on, unbearably cold, with no chance of getting warm
You walk through this world like a man among men, untouched by the storm
You can dance with the Gods and reach for the stars
Put your ship on an even keel
You can discover a universe far from your own
But you can never let yourself feel.
There is safety in solitude, quiet, secure; no pain when you do not conform
You can sail this world on a sea of madness, untouched by the storm.
Tears in your eyes are a sign of weakness
A sign your foundation's unsound
Curse at them; scream at them until they go away
Then cry when there's no one around.
Don't trust a soul. Don't let anyone in. Be hard. Be true to form
You can march through this planet in the swirling snows, untouched by the storm.
Your heart is a rock. You feel no pain in spite of the wounds you acquire
Your soul is immune to sorrow or hurt. You can stand in the burning fire.
Now the wall is gone and the ashes smolder, making the night seem warm
You awaken at last to find you're alone, untouched by the storm.
