My words seep onto the page like poetic tears Drip Drip Drip Words once leached from every inch of my psyche Now my friends, my time has come It is time for me to depart The light in my life is fading Soon it will be extinguished I will be gone from your lives forever … Yet my words will always remain I have been on a journey of a lifetime Writing changed my life forever I’ve shared my hopes and dreams The good times and the bad With laughter and tears If you have one memory of me Remember how I made you smile I will never spill a drop of ink again It’s finally time to say adieu For it is too late for goodbyes These are the final words I will ever write … Until we meet again For contest 26th August 2015

Thanks Barbara - I dread to think of ever writing my final poem I found it very tough emotionally to write this. It didn't place in the original contest so I am really glad it will get more exposure with the 'trashed' contest:-) hugs jan xx

Someone said "you can't fake sincerity." Every line of this poem rings with credibility, and so it is deeply affecting--another premium-quality composition by Jan, who makes excellence look easy. Lots of hugs, always.

This is a lovely goodbye. I always wonder if I had a terminal illness, would I write a letter to friends to be read at my own funeral? The death of someone I know always spawns a write, so why not your own.

I've thought about that too recently Janet guess the death of my dad has given me a lot to think about but I know i do not want my family to suffer what I am currently going through with his will so I am determined to make life easy for those I leave behind and get all my wishes down on paper - if the involves a poem to be read out I may do that too:-) hugs jan xx
