For Tania Kitchin's A New Etheree Poem Any Theme Poetry Contest

_________________________________________________________________-

My little grandson, sweet, exuberant, and untainted by unspoken rules that say to keep a social distance, ran up to a lone gentleman seated at the restaurant we left, touched the old man’s knee, and blew a kiss ‘bye.

sadly, he became a different child after being over-vaccinated at age 2 and a half. Immediately thereafter, he began stuttering and acting nonsensical. Today he has social autism.

Very sweet, innocent. I use to be quick to say hello to children, tease and be playful in conversation...but, I would not dare to do so in a store or mall -- even have impulse not to answer when strange children comes up to me smiling, fearing the first impulse of the parent would be to call store security. Different world than the one I grew up in.
