Unrequited
Croons my fractured heart to you,
a melody breaking on deaf ears;
seeks my lonesome ghost for you,
blindly in dark domains.
Cries my conscious mind for you,
a silent web of silver tears;
weeps my closing eyes for you,
sightlessly in vain.
Ignites my longing flesh for you,
an incendiary device;
belongs my tattered life to you,
swathed in rags of mist.
Stretch my vacant arms to you,
enfolding chunks of ice;
bends my dying will to you,
dissolved in some abyss.
Know of what you are to me,
the earth, the sky, the sun;
my oxygen, my lifeblood,
my galaxy in one.
What acts or words alleviate
the pain when life is blighted;
strangled by the thorny wreath
of love made unrequited…?
