Unlucky In Love

Unforgiven but still in love
Out of control I caused you harm
I slipped fell down bruised and aching
but God pushed me back only to help me up
When the fog cleared I looked back to see the damage done
All the doors began to shut
I knocked and no one answered
No one believed that I had changed
But the past was too soon it followed me
unforgiven but still in love
You tell me it’s alright forgotten but nothing changes
A friendly handshake a tense hug carefully chosen pauses
But I am still waiting to change in a heartbeat
when you call my name like you did before
You were a shelter from my storm

quite the exercise in coming to the truth within...accurate in so many details and...unfortunately captures a small distant path of my own....a mistake i never repeated and decades later i still always remember her birthday, gone are flowers and candy....now it is Burt Bees purse size hand creams...learned, forget, forgive, and move on...Let go and Let God

Such a beautiful poem, remember always try to change yourself before the damage has been done becuase after the damage if you do change it wouldn t be of much use however I m new on this site and would really appreciate if you could find time to read my poems and give your honest reviews about them

I have to ask...what storm? If love is seen as a ”storm" it is not love but a one-sided event! Go away from that! REAL love is defiantly two-sided!

There is a beautiful song written and sung by Tim Hardin called Unforgiven. I could certainly identify with it and it inspired me to write this. Thanks for the comment.
