Unforgiven

my best friend and I
believed one day we would be
golden girls cruising

all over nothing
I was cast in a role as
the unforgiven

despite my attempts
at reconciliation . . . 
her indignation

though I felt hurt too
I was willing to forgive
and to say sorry

our beach dreams destroyed
if only she knew how to
forgive and forget
