Undone

I was only four, when Blackie my dog died. My dad ran my best friend over, yes it was a horrible accident. I was only seven, when my loving cat died. I found her dead from eating a lizard, the lizard was coming out of her mouth. I was in my twenties, when I got the call. Your dad is dying, will I make it in time. My heart has been broken many times, feeling like pieces of glass cutting it apart. Each time my heart was undone, it could not be made new again. An undone heart will last forever, never to be fixed again. Hold your heart in love, protect it at all cost.

Such sadness can only be felt by the one it affects. Its like pain, unless you experience it you can only imagine how terrible it must feel. You describe the anguish you went through most vividly Paula. And the reader can only have sincere, deep empathy for you. BOL for the competition. Your poem is grand.

Hi Paula, It's true, this emotive poem of yours. Every time we lose some thing we loved it does feel like a piece of our heart goes with them. I do believe in the rainbow bridge though and that animals have souls, just like we do, and we will all be together some day in the here after.
