Underbed Monsters

When pens run short of ink
and thoughts...run short of time
I'll pause and reminisce
and put it all to rhyme.
When our hearts were young,
some dreams would make us sad,
thinking we'd awake,
without a mom and dad.
But, most of us would find them,
the lucky ones like we ~
for who's to run and scare
the monsters that weren't there...

Congratulations, Craig, on POTD. The glass empties and needs to be filled again, just as our thoughts collect. Our mind is a strange thing, gathering worries and sometimes joy, and for some, shutting off the faucet to sleep and chase the monsters away can be hard. Nicely done.

Always ! And that is the best feeling, knowing that in a time of fright, mom's and dad's make everything alright. ( I know mine did and still do). Congratulations Craig, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

Craig, congrats and hive fives for your POTD! Wonderful musing on the monsters in the darkness of our lives as we wake up to scare them into oblivion!!! Monster season is approaching! Time to clean out under the bed! I wrote a children's poem titled There's a Monster in my Closet! A little different emphasis. Blessings, my friend.

The gentle rhyme gives this poem a fitting childhood cadence, while the closing lines tenderly capture how parents made imaginary monsters—and very real fears—feel manageable. Congratulations on POTD 👏

If we could all look at the world, thru the eyes of our inner child, imagine what we could accomplish. With childlike Innocence, with childlike compassion, and childlike wonder, of the world around us...can you see it? Can you feel it? It's right there in front of us, it always has been. We just stopped looking and listening to it. I dig your pen, brother! Write on!

What a delight to see this beautiful poem as POTD - perhaps all the algorithm needs is genuine engagement with poetry for the sole purpose of appreciating the art and heart of it. I love that this poem epitomises why we read poetry - for human connection and connection to the beauty of being human. All the applause Craig and congratulations on POTD x

Who indeed, except our mom and dad, and now that they are gone, what do we do when the monsters come. Love your poetry, my friend.
