Una Nave Parte-A Ship Departs

Una donna rattristita e velata dal pianto,
guarda verso un mare
piu' squallido di questo invernile mattino:
rimpiangendo i pensieri dolci
cullati dalla nostalgia di ieri
che non sara' facile dimenticare!

Una nave parte,
si ode il suo rombo...
si infrancono
onde tempestose
sulla spiaggia
non troppo giocanda:
quanto e' doloroso un'addio!

C'e' una tristezza indissolubile
e i suoi capelli biondi
hanno un luccichio
piu' delle monete d'oro,
piu' scintillanti dei chicchi di grano
nei campi lontani che ondeggiano
come tante onde d'orate;
un cosi' ampio silenzio non durera'
con l'arrivo degli gabbiani
che invaderanno le spiagge deserte
prima che il tramonto svanisca
con la sua tonalita' scura di viola!

Una nave parte
per una meta ignota,
la sua bandiera sventola
sul ponte principale
non puo' eguagliare
il volo aspro delle aquile
che lottano per prendere
la velocita' crescente;

che batte di intensa passione;
dove il tuo tesoro sta andando...
se l'inverno sta arrivando
e lui non potra' esserti vicino
per farti respirare e vivere?

Una nave parte,
piange una sposa devota
che deve attendere
il ritorno del suo amore
da un viaggio pericoloso
che durera' mesi, se non anni;
chi offrira' conforto
al suo immenso dolore...
quando lei sentira'
l'assenza dei suoi baci?

A Ship Departs

A saddened woman veiled by tears
looks towards a squalid sea
gloomier than this winter's morning
regretting the sweet thoughts
lulled by the nostalgia of yesterday
which will not be easy to forget!

A ship departs
and its loud roar is heard
as tempestuous waves break
on the beach not so cheerful:
how painful a farewell is!
There's an indissoluble sadness
and her hair has a luster
more than gold coins glittering,
more than the wheat of the distant fields
swaying as if they were waves of gilt!
Such an ample silence
will not last with the arrival
of the shrieking seagulls
that will invade the deserted beach
before the vanishing sunset turns purple!

A ship departs
for an unknown destination
and its flag on the master deck
can't match the harsh flight
of the eagles that struggle
to catch on increasing their speed;
Their wide and agile wings
need a spacious sky to fly happily,
and defying the treacherous wind
they search for the next prey
that does not suspect an ambush!

A saddened woman shivers
from the gelid wind
that freezes the bones,
not the warm, beating heart
of intense passion;
where your sweetheart is going
if winter is not far off
and he can't be near you
to let you breathe and live?

A ship departs
as a devoted wife mourns,
she must wait for her love to return
from a long journey long so dangerous,
and it may last months, if not years;
will someone offer solace for her immense pain,
will she endure the absence of his kisses?
