Tyrant Blues

You ruled your home like a tyrant Everyone was afraid That you'd come home one day and take The coins out of their arcade You ruled your home like a tyrant You made everybody cry On her wedding day your daughter left Without looking you in the eye You ruled your home like a tyrant Kept chains on all the wheels I once watched your son crawl down the road To see how concrete feels You ruled your home like a tyrant With your torch and your masonry nails Family nights were just an excuse To pass notes saying "Get out of jail" You ruled your home like a tyrant That's no way to treat a spouse Even I would hold my breath Whenever setting foot in that house You ruled your home like a tyrant Dead parakeets everywhere On hot days we could catch the smell Of burning animal hair You ruled your home like a tyrant I hope you proved your point There's no one determined As a broad-faced German with his nose so out of joint.
