Twenty-twenty-three
is nearing an end.
What lies ahead,
chaos or peace?
The future faces
global warming,
climate change
and an influx of
frightened, illegal
immigrants,
seeking a living
for their families.
Fascism and
bigotry
are on the rise.
Have we forgotten
the millions of lives
sacrificed,
fighting for freedoms
we're contemplating
throwing away?
Twenty-twenty-four
offers a new start;
what will we do?
Are we so stupid
that we would want
a future
that mirrors our past;
steeped in blood?
