Tryst

once two met in rain
to hide tears from prying eyes
and longing in mine

stole away in night
to bargain locked heart's freedom
you the only key

sat perfectly still
as I sketched it on my mind
the smile you promised

as showers subside
blossoms thirst in desert sands
til return of rain

I love senryus. These are so touching. You bring back memories of a magical night of mine in San Francisco. Thank you... Panagiota

You need to venture in the rain more often, Richard, if the result is going to be as good as this poem! Best regards // paul

Anisha, Thank you, I admire you. It's a lovely Sunday and I have a fine tune playing in my head. 'Sunny afternoons that made me feel so warm inside ~~ Have turned as cold and gray as ashes As I feel the embers die ~~No longer can I walk these paths for they have changed ~~ I must be home the sun is gone and I think it's gonna rain ~~ I remember sunshine and you were mine ~~ Sunday will never be the same' -Spanky & Our Gang . Sunday Will Never Be The Same

I love the setting of the rain, and the fine imagery, Richard. It's a Fave. :=)

You're a Fave Evie, The rain has always been your friend, and life's too short not to smile. Here's a song I listen to whenever the radio cares to play it. I hope it plays for you in this brand new year. "Cause you only need the light when it's burning low Only miss the sun when it starts to snow Only know you love her when you let her go Only know you've been high when you're feeling low Only hate the road when you're missing home Only know you love her when you let her go... And you let her go" - Let Her Go

How seductive and mysterious, love is the key to freedom, (though you put it much more eloquently!)

Michelle, Thank you, I like how your mind works too. Though not your fault your name brings back a whip to my heart. We all had one, and only one. Here are some lyrics I hope you like. "I came across a fallen tree I felt the branches of it looking at me Is this the place we used to love? Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?" -Somewhere Only We Know

Andrea, Thank you for that. Why is it I always find it so hard to talk sometimes. Anyway, here is your song. "I saw her sitting in the rain Raindrops falling on her She didn't seem to care She sat there and smiled at me And I knew (I knew, I knew, I knew, I knew) She could make me happy (happy, happy) Flowers in her hair, flowers everywhere" -(I Love) The Flower Girl

Maureen, Thank you, suffering from ennui.., perhaps. But aren't we all? I picked this song lyric just for you. "I know it's hard to keep an open heart When even friends seem out to harm you But if you could heal a broken heart Wouldn't time be out to charm you?" -November Rain

Sara, The rain holds a special memory sometimes. Not always bad, not always good. But always so very special. A sweet song lyric just for you. "There were bells on the hill But I never heard them ringing No, I never heard them at all Till there was you" -Till There Was You - The Music Man
