On Valentine's Day, the loss and absence of a loving life partner is most surely felt more deeply. My olde classmate in school passed on sometime in April 2021.

This year 2024, his spouse felt the loss especially at Valentine's.

So, I wrote this poem for her -- to honour the memory of my friend.

She thanked me… "for my words of comfort."

True souls that meet
Upon these streets
Are here by fate 
A joyous state
To dream and dance
To live fond trance


For man and wife
Must endure strife
Till time brings change
In loss most strange
Yet in the heart
Love creates art


A timeless feel
Of true goodwill
Memory is
The way of bliss
Cherish each day
Your precious stay


Valentine’s Day
Blooms mystic sway
A deeper whole
Of heart and soul
When time stands still
As true love spills


The love you love
A treasure trove
Remains the same
Not just in name
As feelings stay
Your timeless play


So be at peace
In your life lease
For by your side
Through time and tide
Your lover smiles
A look worthwhile
