True Friend

We all need someone that we can call friend at some point in our life. Someone to help us get through hard times, whether it is a breakup or a fight. Friends are people who can influence our thought process when it comes to doing right and wrong. Some friends will be loyal to you and respect you even if you say no to beer or a bong. True friends are those that respect you and like you no matter what other people think. They will tell you the truth, like brush your teeth take a bath because other say you stink. Friends trust each other with their secrets, their dream and their heart. True friends would never let anything or anyone tear their friendship apart. A true friend would clean you up after you've had too much to drink and never think twice. A true friend is someone who will buy you a gift for your birthday and Christmas and never tell you the price. They say friends come and go, but true friends will always be there for each other when they call. They will stick by each other, be loyal, keep secrets and always be there to catch one another if they fall. I've had many friends in my life time but I look back and after reading this, I don't think any of them were true. Now that our friendship has started I hope that my definition of a true friend starts with you.

I must say there have been so many diverse poems shared here at PoetrySoup yesterday and this morning that I am just now being able to read. Each one is a treasure to the poet who wrote it. It is a pleasure to me to be able to read them. I am so happy yours was among the ones I have read today Alex. Love, Carol
