Through the Eyes of a Child
Happy to play in the mud every day,
Building a castle on a beach far away.
Hopping and jumping like a bunny,
Telling a knock knock joke that’s funny.
Soaking up the colors of flowers and sky,
Seeing them with an innocent eye.
Finger paintings and drawings of cats on a cloud,
Floating in dreams and singing out loud.
Reading a nursery rhyme,
Imagining fairies and forgetting time.
Staring at the moon,
Wishing ET would come back soon.
Dancing a jig,
Feeding a pig.
Chasing a cat,
Wearing a funny hat.
Having fun
Just eating a hot dog on a bun.
Chasing the ice-cream man down the street
With some money in hand from mom for a treat.
Singing with the birds in the trees,
Saying your prayers at bedtime on knees.
Never let it become a blur.
Always remember the kid that you were
And never stop feeling the thrill
Of somewhere inside you being a kid still.
