The Tricky Chirp The nester bird comes to live, in a nest, they did not make. Yet... the bird, feels right at home and not alone at all. The new mom seems surprised, she can not hide it from her eyes, but she continues on like any mother would. The brand new baby is larger than the rest. Taking all the best, and putting the whole nest to the test. The sad secret of this new life, this mock, "not my son" from afar... The more you give, the more they take. It is a bad-tasting cake. The dark star is par for the course... and now the jar is empty. There is no more left for those that belong, and that is all wrong. Eating the food, drinking the wine, and telling the time... to whom ever walks by they said hi, and not high, or how high? The mother bird continues, wondering where father has gone?

You used the Metaphor of birds for mankind well, Ann. The uninvited take from those that are being provided for from the parents. Selfish and undeserving, they flourish while the young and helpless pay the price. A lot more here, well written my mindful poetess. Smiles ~ Blessings Bill

Well penned, I love watching the birds; they are so vulnerable, yet magical. Enjoyed.

Such a very wonderful and touching story poem you've written my dear friend Ann. I think by nature, it's always the mother who's always sacrificing for the goodness of her offsprings. Hope the father bird is just around my friend. I love this awesome poem of yours somuch. i extremely enjoyed reading it this afternoon. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you kind friend and thank you for your words... thank you... I agree, it is a repeative story too often in all kinds of ways. I have autistic kids. The percentages of single moms in that realm are staggering. So sad... We need to help each other so much more. Blessings on your day. Hugs. Ann

Hello Anne, I wonder where the father bird went to. Will the father bird return to the nest? Did another bird lay an egg in that nest. i ask because the bird is bigger than the rest. I feel badly for the mother. hugs.

There are several birds that do this in nature. It is something that really happens. Yet, there is also a mediphor here for those that come and take, and take... and eat all the cake... that don't even have wings. Hugs..Thank for your kind words. Thank your for stopping by. I love your poetry. Ann
