Trick Or Treat

Careless stepping over the sole onto the tongue taking foothold tingling the leg crawl bravery perhaps unwise direction the venomous creep dreadful little faces with large vengeance fire-ants the masks their own next one’s privates the thought covered and bare we all have them both – denial no protection ring the ominous and painfully dance, or flee be called chicken of the season

ah, the Halloween season...so much fodder for poets. I like what you did here...clever and nostalgic -- reminds me of the pranks my brothers endured. Enjoy your day, Sara

Thank you, Sara; it was a fun holiday, for children to mischievously explore fear and eventually be led to self-confident relationship with a loving higher power. With sound adult explanation and positive guidance, it can be religiously instructive.

Thank you, Curie; the old days -- when everything wasn't a sin irredeemable...and children had Safe Spaces to experiment and grow, mentally and spiritually. Blessings my friend.

Do I laugh applaud or hand you the insect repellant? Good one Joe. We don't trick or treat here in Aussie land. No halloweening :(

Tears actually would be appropriate. It's a once fun, creepy ritual really not practiced in the US anymore...no parent in his or her right mind would allow a child out ringing doorbells -- far too dangerous. Most people sleep with a baseball bat or gun at their bedside. That's how bad it has gotten.
