“When a Poet writes from HeartSpace as opposed to merely from mind, the resonant frequency of the poem lives on, whether they have passed, moved on or even when they no longer write or we no longer read them. Tom Woody’s commitment to being the best he could be was within his contributions to the Poetry Soup community, even if he sometimes rubbed
some up the ‘wrong way’.” ~ Poet

I miss Tom Woody’s presence and
commitment on this site
he was one of first to encourage me to
continue to write
his comments sometimes were a delight
taking me to mid-height
though Tom often shot from his hip
his feedback never made one sick
Mr Woody was a masculine here
who spoke from his heart dear
sometimes his mental judgement too
narrow, though it skipped being shallow
His lyrics were cutely upbeat
emotional renditions genuinely sweet
often he carried on somewhat harried
yet recognised sadness or sorrow in
each piece read on a morrow
Tom was openly honest about his beliefs
not covering them in deceits
this sometimes irked this poet, since not
all adhere to traditional show ups
Mr Woody was unafraid to share his ups-
downs, without clowning or drastically
frowning — in ways evoking empathic thought
at other pole end, quick to jump on a fast
white horse when sensing attack coarse
without checking factual clarity
this a hilarity (...)
Tommy was one of few Amerikanos
who saluted writings from Africa’s belly
unashamedly he would sally a good solid
poem from another global alley !
I entered a couple of Tom’s contests
his themes were interesting, quite keen !
they stretched my mind, especially one about
the Woolly Mammoth kind —took me right into
ancient times, a lovely dime …
Mr Woody’s self-doubt about his own writing
was needless —- his offerings personal
gems seamless
a couple of times he did not want to enter
contest’s grace, for fear of losing face
this mirrored our own insecurities not to
be an ace ~
I miss Tom Woody’s presence on this site
I trust he is a happier chappy with his attractive
wifey — away from shadows who dwell
across stanzas here, that in underlying
strife appear !
