Tribute To the Fallen Leaves
Breezing trees heard the whispers of leaves
The autumn has cast its shadow
The sun is on its round of the sky
And the wind is quickening its pace,
A choir of sighs is building up
Breaking the hush in the forest,
The trees are counting their losses
As the leaves went dry and frugal
Are gradually shedding their abode
In spades, drifting down slowly
In movements rhythmic of Ballerinas
On their last dance, in waves sinuous
In harmony with the music crunching
Played by feet aplenty
On their daily walks in the forest
Crushing the fallen into thousand pieces,
In vain was not their life
Giving shades to travelers while in life
And once fallen serving as a staple
To their companions in life, or
Turned into duff serving as shields
To smother parasite seeds
Under their companions turned barren.
Breezing trees heard the whispers of leaves - From the poem, The last goodbye by Vijay Pandit
