Tribute To Keith Bickerstaffe
In actuality,
I never knew Keith Bickerstaffe,
A native of Britain.
Gone before I joined Poetrysoup,
I presume.
He never commented on
Any of my poems, and vice versa,
But after combing through
his treasure trove of poems,
He no longer felt like a ghost to me.
Strange how many of his writes
Speak to me;
Every time I read him,
I wonder...
"How does he know that about me?"
He understood the human condition
like the back of his hand.
By sheer serendipity,
I chanced upon
his sensual gem, "Petal."
That signature poem of his,
A key to the door
Of his glorious, poetic kingdom.
Oh, what I place to visit!
Every Poetrysouper should;
More readers ought to
Discover this poet par excellence.
He's infinitely more
Than just his most popular poem.
Delve deeper...
To excavate his inner humanity,
To understand more of Keith.
I've read his published work extensively,
And he left behind gems
I've revisited over the years...
He makes one cry,
and laugh,
and smile,
and reflect,
and feel,
and think,
and dream.
Read his work, if you haven't.
My favorites being...
The Moon's Alive With Skylarks Singing,
Bittersweet, Wallflower, Rapture,
Moonwane, When You Are Young,
Heartache, Widow's Walk,
Eglantine, Winner, Heaven And Hell,
Nightscapes, to name a few.
I never knew him,
Yet I miss him so,
Isn't it strange?
Trust me, you will just as much.
Just read him.
Rest in peace, Keith Bickerstaffe.
