Tribute To Doreen

I did not know her much but there was warmth in her touch Tall and quiet, serene and cool politeness was her rule I did not know her much but there was warmth in her touch Feminine in manner and mien an example upon our scene I did not know her much but there was warmth in her touch Her eyes filled with grace she will be missed in fellowship's place I did not know her well but in me this impression dwells ....there was a warmth in her touch I shook Doreen's hand in welcome at the door of our church last Sunday morning, she died in her sleep on Sunday night, aged eighty-six.She had attended our Time out for Seniors(our church's monthly community lunch/fellowship ) where I sometimes joined her & her friend for the meal part. She lived in a local care home and started coming to our church within the last year.

Brian I really like this tribute to Doreen- especially the repeated first verse which fixes it in the memory. As a church member perhaps you would like to check out some of my poetry.

I have found I have often felt very close to people I have only come in contact with in a single clasping of hands. It is like I have know them for years. I think it is the recognition of a kindrid soul. I feel this way about Dorren after reading and sensing your feelings about her. Elaine

This moved me more than I can say. We often talk of death, and loss...but when it happens in the blink of an eye, it still catches us unprepared. How lovely this tribute....how wonderful if each of us could leave knowing that there was a warmth in the touch we left behind. Those warm memories truly matter. Love, Carrie
