Tribute To Bob Ross

(1942-1995)
 


when my husband was sick with cancer
i spent every moment by his side
one memory i cherish dearly
happened late one night
when we came across a series
of the joy of painting episodes

in spite of the late hour
we watched three episodes in a row
mesmerized by the soothing
meditating voice of our host
we couldn’t get enough
of absorbing the calm energy
he exuded and shared
ever so generously

and what a legacy he left
bob ross, the world is a better place
because you shared your gifts

yes, god was having a good day
when he placed bob ross on our path
bob was a friend to one and all
especially to animals and trees
his voice was the gentle whisper
of an angel’s wing
his zen wisdom
a gift pure from his heart

bob was sent to show us all
to be calm and not worry
how to find happiness
in a brush and freedom in a canvas
how to be the master of our world
how to summon our power
to move mountains
and bend rivers

meditating with brush and canvas
happiness just a landscape away
no pressure
just think like a tree
every day is a good day when you paint

bob made it look easy
inviting happy accidents
we thought we’d never lose you
then there you were gone

bob ross, we thank you for your legacy

Indiana Shaw September 8, 2021 at 6:35 AM Awww, Line, lovely tribute, I come across Bob, on Youtube, his voice and hair, such fuzz, his remarks on nature, my fav is the Cabin in the Hollow, on the funny side I have never seen such a big paint palette, did you ever get to do one of his paintings, I wonder . . . Jan Allison July 18, 2021 at 6:18 AM what a FABULOUS tribute Line, I am not into art but I could have watched him all day and night, his soothing voice and just a few flicks of the brush and the painting came to life before your eyes. Gary Radice July 18, 2021 at 5:16 AM Line, a great tribute to a great artist. Very popular here in the UK, 'whispering Bob' made watching a painting come to life exciting. I loved watching his trees and reflections take a life on all of their own with just a few of his brush strokes. Sadly now gone to "The great pallet in the sky" his shows will live on.
