Trees In Winter

Naked against the winter sky their autumn finery lies moldering beneath the season's first snow. Where now the innocence of youth and the boldness of summer? How fleeting do your days appear, too soon they are consumed. Regretfully I marked your passage while looking forward toward tomorrow.

Trees are beautiful and provide so much, it's a shame how we take them for granted. Nicely done, John.

i really admire your poetic talent. I always loved hiking in the woods with my other teenage friends in the Autumn. I just loved the scent of the woods and the beauty of the leaves. I also loved the fresh fallen snow that covered everything in my little valley in the winter. I love the way you draw deeper meanings from the beholding of Nature.

I think of the passage of time and the seasons of life, and also of death, as I read your beautiful verse on autumn turned to winter, John. Very nice! :)

"Where now the innocence of youth and the boldness of summer?"...I shall think of that line every cold morning as I look at the naked maple outside. Great job John..and the final couplet....masterful ending

Stripped of their glory, naked against the gray horizon -- comeuppance for the trees, indeed.
