Maybe it is to remind us Death weighs Heavy Can't believe having carried a coffin myself just how heavy they actually are

I live around the corner from the church, if a funeral of someone I personally know is taking place I normally wait outside and when the family comes out go over and shake hands a quick word and I’m off again. If it’s a relative I usually do the whole ceremony out of respect

Yeah death is paradoxical it bings sorrow loss and grief to the living but hopefully freedom and release to the dead. I find funerals and wakes a wierd thing i know they are supposed to be a way of paying one's respects and celebrating their life but to me they have died and someone's death is not something i want to commemorate nor celebrate

Exactly Christopher it’s the weight of grief that counts not the the metal caskets, I feel so sorry for those poor people who have to bury their loved ones in a cardboard box cheers David
