Treasure Your Freedom

I have to admit
at times I am intellectually
lazy – settling for the thoughts
and leadership of others. Being
wrong is a heavy responsibility
when it comes to life and death.
When it comes to failure or success.
The chef knows the heartache of
a bad flavor. The captain, a sunk
ship. The father, no roof over his
family’s head. What must God think?
With infinite wells provided, and so few,
having the blessed opportunity, willing to
draw for themselves.

"The father, no roof over his family's head" -- grabbed me in the gut... I myself was too close to that point the last 10 years of my first marriage. Little wonder it ended in divorce, eh? ... A timely reminder for me. Thanks, Joe.

Every one's life is book's worth. Uncomplicated moments, but no simple stories. Thank you, Gershon.

God has given enough opportunities for everyone. But we refuse to draw from His abundance and keep worrying. Here you too undertake a self introspection and feel regret over having been lazy. A thoughtful composition.

Lazy and ashamed for not having made the best of my abundant opportunities. I my later years, the clock winding down more quickly, I sleep less, trying not to waste a moment of awake time. Blessings my friend.

Ohhh sigh! This is such a thought-provoking reminder and also, deeply introspective.. how we are often caught in the tug of war.. between what is right and what is wrong, and ohh the repercussions of those wrong decisions.. especially when we have immense responsibilities and we are accountable for the welfare of others.. and to think of the Almighty ~ sigh.. immensely profound this poem is, dear Joe! sending you light and poetic warmth. 💫💫🌙🌙

Such a wonderful, inspiring comment! Thank you, Hiya. I do often apology to God for myself and others, seeing Him with tears in his eyes. He is not removed from His Creation, observing and feeling all that we do -- bound by His Own Free Will to allow us to learn and govern for ourselves. His control over the world is far more subtle than most ministers understand. We must do more for ourselves if to be safe and happier. The Second Coming is up to our direct, positive participation.

Good introspection. We all must inspect, ponder our thoughts and humanity.

Hi Kim; I am really upset with Democrat Liberals pushing Social Communism in our Nation: someone once told me, God provides for even the birds in the wilderness, but He does not throw seed in their nests. Contrary to what Liberal Democrats suggest, Work is not a dirty word. Blessings my friend.
