Tragic Chapters
For Steven Joseph Way
Dreading chapters yesterday years inked about us,
hour after minute, I delayed my inevitable look.
I feared pain from words about married times of us.
The pages lay dusty, fading undisturbed.
My heart shakes a throb as I attempt each word.
I strain my eyes to read chapters about our world.
Imagery leaps with emotions my heart will keep
including all hurt, ache-fraught inside of me.
Time after time, I recall fondling that book.
There were no pages with words explaining why,
so acceptance of our ending was my only ally.
