Traffic Ballet

Driving through town in thoughts all my own, when stopped at a traffic light awaiting my turn, It suddenly occurs to me as if never before, the dance of the vehicles that appear just before. Don’t know why I’ve never noticed this spectacular ballet, for I drive these streets in and out every day. A symphony begins as the traffic lights change as cars move ahead and empty the lanes. The cars start to turn, like a graceful ballet and head in different directions and go on their way. The left turns and right turns, the blinkers and horns, Pedestrians, and animals, and siren alarms warn. The city’s alive with purpose and grit and the tempo picks up, there are places to get The signals are green, the brake lights are red, but amber says “Be careful… slow down up ahead”. This ballet goes on all day and into the night, And the dance begins again at dawn’s new light.
