Toys In The Attic

Tiny train...tiny memories...
how toys bring us back,
travel great distances
without actually moving --

how replicas resurrect
the plastic solders and tanks
in an attic trunk, my favorite
gun -- dry, bet the caps still
bang...?

Should these shaky old hands
pass them on? Or let them
desire their own -- to see what
future dusty attics will hold
after a fresh settling of years?

Spears, arrows, muskets, laser
blasters -- does anything really
change? Christ has not returned
despite our subsequent crucifixions....

Yet, love gives me hope....

Your words are always seamless! Sending you light always! Hope everything is going well with you.

Old toys bring to us memories of our childhood days and also memories of our children when they were young. They may be dumped in the attic. But what a surge of memories, they bring to us and wonder what will be the nature of toys that will clutter the attic in future. Your philosophic ending of the poem gives us food for thought.

Hi Valsa; thank you. Sometimes I think it is better, given humanity's track record, not to leave anything behind...giving the next generation a fresh start to create a new destiny not predicated on our past. Who knows?

What the heck, what you don't use you lose. Still climbing ladders but in need of a spotter. Poor cat is going to get squished one of these days.
