Notes About The Poem

tourists, please

(mostly Senryu poems)

Why do people attempt to engage?
When I'm so obviously disengaged.

Ok, tourists, when
I'm communing with my phone
please leave me alone.

I'm shopping, waiting
for the metro, I don't like
talking to strangers.

People in Paris,
think people who stop you on
the street are scammers.

I'm not here to help,
like a theme park employee.
Take your own pictures.

Your phone is equiped
With GPS, and very
exact directions.

This is my home, I'm
on my way somewhere, like school,
I have a schedule.

I'm not Mickey Mouse
or a Blues Clues character.
Jésus, go away

Are we unfriendly?
No, we're living - would you stop
a New Yorker? No.

? Charles doesn’t run interference? You could wear an ankle bracelet with a blinking red light. That would keep people away. Or don’t they do ankle bracelets in France? Is Paris now home? Not just school? I’d move there maybe, probably, if I could. NICE photo! / 💛

Paris is home, for now (school), and let's see what happens in the elections. I miss the US - SO many things are just a hair-off here - but things are calmer. Charles looks for danger, not annoyance - he can't stop THAT, unfortunately. I've read that Paris has more tourists than any other city and it doesn't help that the Eiffel Tower is exactly 450 feet from our back door. When the tour busses arrive and the cruise ships and river boats let people off - like bats from a cave - I literally have to serpentine my way through a throng to get to my front door. There are so many tourists that they walk in the street and with the tour buses—you have to walk—a car would just sit there, stuck in traffic. My life is SO hard, Vin. 🙃
