A POEM ABOUT THE SOLAR ECIPSE

OUR TINY LITTLE MOON CIRCLES THE EARTH.
IT'S BEEN DOING SO SINCE THE TIME OF IT'S BIRTH.
FOR FOUR BILLION YEARS SOME WILL SAY FIVE.
OUR TINY LITTLE PLANET IS STILL HERE ALIVE.
THE GREAT STATE OF IDAHO STOOD RIGHT IN THE PATH.
ONCE IN A LIFETIME IF YOU WORK OUT THE MATH.
TREASURE THE YEAR TWENTY SEVENTEEN.
MILLIONS GATHERED TO WITNESS THE SCENE.
THE MONTH WAS AUGUST ON THE TWENTY-FIRST DAY.
POET MICHAEL E. HARRIS DESCRIBED IT THIS WAY.
IN A TINY LITTLE PLACE, IN A TOWN NAMED WEISER.
I STOPPED TO WITNESS A REAL CROWD TEASER.
THE MOON WILL PASS BETWEEN EARTH AND SUN.
AND JUST FOR A MOMENT IT ALL BECOMES ONE.
DAY AND NIGHT AT THE VERY SAME TIME.
THE STARS COME OUT TO SPARKLE AND SHINE.
BIRDS WILL STOP CHIRPING THE TEMPS WILL COOL DOWN.
TOTAL AMAZEMENT WHEN YOU LOOK UP FROM THE GROUND
