Notes About The Poem

Too Much Sadness For Me

there's too much sorrow...
don't you know
we are all going to die
a starting point always beckons a finish
sooner or later
no matter how
peaceful or painful
that final moment may be
you see...
it will come
for you
for me

There's too much sorrow
war
betrayal
so much I have seen
sickness sapping away
the mother-daughter moments
meant for me...
She struggled bravely
to set my fears free
But MS wouldn't let her be
My Mama left me

There is too much sorrow
the pain of being unloved
of trying to fit in
of trying to play the game
of success and fame
it all comes at a cost
so much is lost...
sacrificial moments
meant for family

There is too much sorrow
refugee misery
nowhere to be
no home
no destiny
just abject poverty
hearts left hungry
for a love
that the world
will not let them see

There is too much sorrow
tonight my heart is heavy
I'm tired of goodbyes
I'm tired of trying to fit in
I'm tired of pretense
I'm tired of...me

There is too much sorrow
Eyes are blurring
I can't see
the last lines I'm meant to write
Too tired to fight
Survival more than it's pumped up to be

Sleep....obliviousness of a dream
sweet it seems to me
you see...
There is too much pain
So write...
write for me
of happy
of make believe
of heaven
and eternity
of no pain
or misery
of no abuse
or fatality
of no tears
or cruelty
no more death
for you
no more death
for me
can't you see?

Write of happy...

Please, there is too much sadness here
for me....

let me write of happy to you, from the taste of today, tomorrow, happiness shall you reap, and dreams of you come true. let me write of make believe, the night doesn't escape coming to view, no matter how long the sun's sleeve, smiles shall soon come to your lips....best wishes dear friend...

Wow! POTW as well!! This makes up for other disappointments. Proves that beauty truly is in the eyes of the beholder! You are a deeply emotional and passionate person, Eileen, and thus your poems have a 'real' feel to them. Sadness inspires beautiful work, but does that balance lack of happiness?! ~ hugs // paul

Dear Eileen Love the pics you've chosen for this emotional poem of yours, it is full of the sadness and almost an anger for living, but life although sometimes might be a sad place to live, their is two much happiness and inspiration in this world to spend time swallowed whole by the bad stuff, spread your poetic wings instead dear girl and fly amongst the inspirational universe for which you live, it shines all around you, cheri

Sad to read this, Eileen. Still, you continue to reach out with your poetry, and that's good. Artists, or poets for that matter, feel more emotion than any other people, I think. Much more for you. I'm glad you got to read a happy poem from me. hugs!

Thank you, dear Laura. I don't know what I would do without the hope He gives....without His unconditional love. I know I get rebellious at times, but I know He's always waiting for me with open arms. That is such a great comfort....a big teary eyes. Missing my baby girl who is studying abroad. Remember her now and again in your prayers, dear. Hugs

This poem deals with the negative shadows that tend to eclipse the beauty of life, that has not been forgotten, but is too often sidestepped by the poets pen. Well written. Emile.

An explosion of unhappiness, pain and death that like molten lava fills the heart and soul, dear Eileen! A masterful poem! However we have to think that we are here to live first and then to die. No one has promised us eternity in the flesh and no one is excluded from death! Pain and sorrow will be around as long as Man doesn't apply the Lord's law! Accept life and the suffering will subside. I know what are you talking about for before I was 14, I lost my parents, two sisters and a brother!
