Too Late

Sitting by the lake, watching the ripples in the water
Thinking back to younger days, pondering my fate
Wondering if time does heal all wounds
Finding what’s right when it’s too late

Brash and bold, wildly outspoken
Left arrogance and pride carry my weight
Couldn’t be tamed and I couldn’t be broken
Learning life’s lessons a little too late

The past will not change, only tomorrow
Standing before Hell, I open the gate
Too often ignoring the pain and sorrow
Words that are spoken when it’s too late

One step out of Hell, I continue my journey
I’ll make the changes and set my own goal
Satan, you may own a lot of my years
But you can never capture my soul

With head bowed I pray devoid of my pride
With eyes downcast, my sins I relate
I ask You, Lord, to be by my side
Help me change my ways before it’s too late.

Hi vince. The only sin in life is in not trying to do better. We can only learn from our mistakes and move morward.. God never forsakes us. This poem is so heart felt. One day at a time - my friend. God forgives you - now you must forgive yourself. Love, Lainie

Vince, I don't believe it is ever too late to ask our Lord to come into your life. You have opened your heart to him and I am so happy for you. Thank you for sharing dear friend. Love and blessings to you and yours always,Carol

This is very moving, Vince. God has a great capacity for forgiveness. We have all done things in the past that we regret, but the type of remorse you convey is all that is required to be forgiven. God bless you as you move forward into the light. My prayers are with you. Love, Carolyn
