Tomorrow I Promise Myself
If I had the whole day to myself, I would paint all day.
I would paint dragons, unicorns, turtles, peacocks, and fat cats.
I would paint with purple, orange, blue, yellow, red, and green neon.
Satisfied, when I went to bed, for I would start six new paintings!
Myself laughs at myself. Like today? She queries, snottily.
Not today, I admit, irritated that she is about to out me to me.
What stopped you?
Seven seasons of Law and Order, that I did not even enjoy
Held me hostage in a chair, eating bags of chips that I also did not
enjoy. I spent a whole day in a recliner, in fuzzy pajamas, not doing anything that made me feel good in any way.
Thanks for the reminder, I say. I look at the clock. It is 9:48 p.m.
Probably too late to do anything about it now. Tomorrow I promise.
Knowing I am lying.
