Today Was a Good Day
I woke up early to the sound of birds singing
A warm, cheery feeling washed over me
I make my coffee and sit in my yard
The sun is peeking over the side of the mountain
Not a cloud in the sky
Today is going to be a good day
The commute to work is pleasant
The tunes on the radio are spot on
The weather is delightful
The scenery is breathtaking
The happiness is intoxicating
Today is a good day so far
Workday went by quickly
Took a walk on the beach
Talked with a dear friend from years gone by
Ate dinner on the patio
I watched a spectacular sunset
Today is a good day so far
As the day comes to a close
I can’t help but smile
I had let the sun shine in
It’s rays reached deep into my soul
My mind is at peace
Today was a good day
