To Poets Who Died Young

John Keats, Countee Mcullen
both died at an early age
Personally, I am quite grateful that
I have made it to 61
Yet. I salute those poetic souls
    who got their message across
Before the nightfall we all face
The fate of mankind
    may be a story
which is coming to a close
Global warming may close the chapter on us
Before sleep tonight, think of those poets
who died young
   Willing to sacrifice so they
so they could get their message across
And who enriched the human experience
for all those who read their powerful words

Hi Matthew. Wonderful dedication and thoughts. Well done. (I was wondering if in the first two lines of the last stanza ("so they") is an extra/typo or for effect) ;) great job! Big Hugggs. Deb
