To Never Fade
To Never Fade
Old men have still the memories of times
When strength of mind and body still abide.
Yet quiet times can steal away the will
And waste away what yet remains undone.
Caught up in just surviving day to day
And mapping out the rest of times ahead.
It’s easy to just pass the times away
Until old age is always on your mind.
Then Spring arrives to catch you by surprise.
You want to run, to swim, to climb that hill,
And watch the sunset breach across the waves
And hold the hand of one you’ll always love.
Get up! Go out and try to catch that wave.
And write the song you’ve always wanted sung.
And fight the fight to thrive- to never fade.
An old man still but dancing in the sun.
