To My Secret Valentine
They’ll wonder, secret Valentine
for fourteen days, in fourteen ways
The feelings of a lovelorn flame, unmasked,
for all the world to see
They could not know, they’ll never know,
your secret Valentine is me
They’ll see the flowers and the cards
with love designed and yet unsigned
They’ll see the chocolates wrapped in red
filled of love’s chagrin
and hear the music of my heart
as you recount the words within
Though I remain behind this veil
for fourteen days, in fourteen ways
Expression finds its way to you, decanted
like the sweetest wine
Though I restrain, I will remain
your humble. secret Valentine
