Notes About The Poem

To My Lying Mind

    just stop...stop it, i said.
V. reprogram
with news, good and true,
or I'll simply change the channel.
                  what happened?
you're suddenly spinning me
            a narrative
that has no relationship with reality.
     what evidence do you have
               that it's too late
to embark on a beckoning dream?
that I can't walk my way past
the shaky tightrope that I'm on?
                     that I'm stuck
in a rut I can't get out of?
 why are you working
                          against me?
i'm greater  than my circumstance;
           my rebuttal...

                           to you.
