To Know Is To Know This:

That you are part of the eternal flame,
Part of the light that was first shined,
Part of the darkness that surrounds all things,
Part of the mystery that dwells within.
Formed from all four elements from your original birth,
You stood the stones at the sacred sites,
Held hands in a circle under every full Moon,
Been part of the forest that fell too soon.
You are the river flowing into the open sea,
The Salmon that swims for the Bear to feed,
You are the stars, the Moon, the Earth, and Sun,
You are the reason it all began.

Budgie, I'm always interested to see what people post first. I really like the continuity-of-ages theme here. Every time I see a full moon, I feel at home and remember those places later on.

Came back to see your first poem here, that's not so long ago. Keith??? Anyway, I feel so disconnected from roots if I ever had them. Through writing poetry I try to find them and myself. To me it feels you are much further there than I am, I like it.

Hi Rick, an excellent first write. We can have many lifetimes and many shapes we can pass through in each life. We are eternal energy and we ever move forward. Every form gives us more knowledge of this world. A well written, well thought out piece. This has to be a seven Rick....Mike.

I came back here to see your very first post. Is it actually one of your first poems. MY first post here was certainly not my first one. I really like this and can appreciate your love for nature and can see the elements of your faith in this one.

No, Like yourself, it was not my first poem but is one of my favourite poems that I have done. Look up 'tales of Tuan' it is an interesting little read. Most Druids believe that not only have we lived before, but have been in many forms. And Tuan kept his memory from many forms such as a Stag, an Eagle, a Salmon, and then born as a human. /|\

"You are the reason it all begun." "To know is to know this" is where it ends. I love how we begin with "the eternal flame" and end with salmon swimming "the Bear to feed". Thank you SO much for sharing and hope to read more. W
