Robert James Liguori Poet Free verse

To Die yet to Live Again

They held me down
and injected me with a needle 
that took away my ability to sleep

It is true
I haven’t slept in six years

I imagine this persisted consciousness 
will remain with me after my body dies

Then there was yet another needle
that transferred the landscape of hellfire

Will I toast for all eternity 
is this the secret of the Illuminati

I can only point to others
that suffered the same fate
Aaron Hernandez

But who can help me now 
is this a puzzle to be solved 

When I’m gone
all that will remain 
is this cryptic poem

Yet I imagine no one will care
or even understand
the evils that men do

I thought that the body was incapable of living without at least a tiny bit of sleep. Maybe you doze off a bit and don't notice? I live with something so rare and horrible like you do, there are not even words for it. So sorry for what you are going through. Ink Empress April 6, 2025 at 2:01 AM Dear Robert, Sleep is sometimes a task for some, and i see many suffer due to lack of sleep, and how sometimes it leads to mania and psychosis etc, i hope somehow you will find the right medication that makes you feel like youv slept deep. As many struggle to find the right meds. Its always good to express your thoughts, and theres many brilliant lines here like "landscape of hellfire" cryptic poem" and also the emotional vulnerability of this is moving and so sincere. I believe many will remember you beyond this poem as the devoted fan of music, especially glenn Hughes! Wishing you well always!
