To Be Young Again

I like to give all things
living personality --

wind, for instance, not just
complex science

but conscious velocity --

mindfully determining its own speed
and direction...
---------------------------------
Time is not all lineal
you know --
I often travel freely back
and forth,
casual jogs over stored memories --

The good ones require no careful stepping
While the bad can be minefields --

I wonder how you recall me?

Perhaps a mixture of pain and pleasure?

An occasional vintage along with the bicarbonate

Like those deeply grooved records we wildly
Danced to:
My confession, I yet listen to them…
Thinking fondly of you, ignoring the hisses and
Scratches. To be young again would be enough!

Exactly what would happen. The young mind does not have the same capacity as an older model. That is why most of us learn by trial and error, despite pleading from parents. Just a fact of life. As much as a psychological, spiritual thing it is also a physical thing. Well said my friend. We are not put on this earth to learn and change the species...just for ourselves to reestablish a conscious connection with God. That does involve attempting to elevate others. Magnanimous by default.

We all wish to retrace our steps to our youthful days. I feel that the best period of my life was the time when my children were young. Though days were hectic then, dreaming about their future and training and taking care of them were so much exciting. "Casual jogs over stored memories"... l do that. Beautifully written, dear Joe.

Thank you, Valsa; good times, beautiful things I think are immortal. The good we do is what we carry with us throughout eternity. Thank you. Blessings my friend.

Very fine writing. I would love to go back to age 30 and stay that way forever (not in that place but in that body) before all the pain with shoulder, neck, etc came along. Memories are not enough for me. I would love to be able to actually relive best moments. Anyway. I really loved that awesome last verse. Side note: those who experience near death gave revealed that most people they see in the light are using the body from their prime! I'd say 20's to 30's!

Yes, I have heard that. I believe creation is far more complex than most of us are consciously aware. Some wonderful surprises maybe. Who knows? So pleased you enjoyed this work. Thank you the encouragement.

If youth could be granted with healing of the old body and lessons learned stay in tack, then maybe to explore youth again but mostly I only want to go ahead. Thank you for sharing this one with us. I enjoyed reading it. Sara K

Oh "To Be Young Again" really??? You are making the reader think/that is a good thing. How many would want to do this??? Some yes/some no. If I could know what I know now/make changes along the way. Then I would say, yes. I am glad I have lived when I have. Have a fun day/week to come writing away..........

Youth was a gift, a blessing too many of us did not enjoy and explore to the fullest.

Yes Joe, you make some interesting points here, and how we think of the past and the questions that arise, the emotions we felt and those that we did not.... and certain people who always seem to come into our mins.... Hope you are well Joe..

So much of what I thought then so important now seems almost silly to have been concerned with. I forgive everyone who wronged me and pray that others find it in their heart to forgive me. Quite a journey.

Beautiful - I relate to the emotion. Your poem touched me. In many ways 'progress' seems a misspeak, I'm glad I was born when I was. I understand preferring the albums to whatever people do now, I no longer have vinyl, but I play my CDs and resent that new cars think I've advanced to whatever, so they lack a CD player. That's not the only part of your poem that resonated with me, I just wanted to get the car issue out of my system, or so it seems.

Yea, those new cars...do too much without consultation first the driver. Mine has a CD -- you just convinced me to keep it running for as long as I can.

Somehow I would not want to be young again. Too much worry.
