Oh no! don’t tell me a placement was taken off you in a contest, and I really liked your entry, I remember Julia doing the same thing to me, and boy I felt admonished lol! I have no clue why this happened here as I’ve been off PS for a few days, still you well got your point across, cheers David

Lin, your poem was excellent. I read the five paragraphs. I see the transition and an oil painting that came to life. In paragraph 4, you write about being lonely and being one without a marriage partner, which is so original and unheard of in the other entries, yet it defines your poem perfectly. I would bet my life that your poem grades an A, or even a POTD. The way I look at it, and I couldn't care less about the repercussions, I'm witnessing a TRUMP ACT here, where if one speaks out against TRUMP the tyrant gives them the axe. Same picture here.

Nothing is flawless, Connie. I stopped entering all contests for many months and then started being picky about those I wrote for. Mainly those who asked me to start entering their contests again. I guess I wasn't picky enough. Sometimes, horses have more sense than we do. They're particular about the kind of meadow they feed upon. Hugs.

Hi, Connie and thank you for your support along with several others. I try to write entries for the few contests I now enter that are a titch different from what many others write about. Sometimes it works... sometimes it doesn't, but it's always one person's opinion against another's. I don't need a POTD for anything I write, and for years I've never considered them much of an honor because of the way they're often chosen. LOL at your calling it a Trump Act. There shouldn't be a tyrant for a president any more than there should be tyrants on a poetry site. I applaud your convictions and thank you most humbly. ;-)

Hi Lin, contests are certainly "funny." I think the lesson from the music industry would work if the site applied it. When entering a contest, the people who submit would be anonymous and only identified after the rankings are fixed. However, I also know you write really well. I love what you write. You're one heck of a class act!!! Smiles and more smiles!!!

"funny" is one way of looking at them, Duke. There's not much anonymity on this site, even without a name attached. Thank you for the compliment on my writing and it's comments like yours that are more important than a placement in anyone's contest.

No Lin, my ego wasn't bruised either by CayCay's comment nor your response. CayCay is a class gal and was praising your poem. But, since pettiness is being tossed about, it was your response to her that was out of line by insulting me and especially the poets I chose in first and second place, insinuating that their poems were inferior to yours. That is the type of attitude that is truly petty and sophomoric even if you were correct. I chose yours 3rd when I always look for more abstract-ask?

Wow, unbelievable lin, just when you think the site has stopped sinking further into the mire. Doesn't get any pettier than this. Yet plagiarism and the use of AI at the top of many lists while genuine poets get sidelined . Tom

It does get a titch sticky underfoot sometimes. Pitfalls of humanity are the results of our flaws, Tom. And yet the muck and mire of the site are trivial when compared to those things in life that really carry weight.
