TITANIC - FARE THEE WELL

As I cling to what matters, fare thee well,
spoken as I drown in the hereafter;
and I’ll see you on the flip side of hell.
Tickets for this dreamy ship sought after…

By sea, everything for the well-to-do.
Well! Well! This slippery slope is for all.
Vanderbilt, no more riches to pursue!
As the ship breaks apart, there is no wall.

Behold clatter of titanic dishes.
The fanciest food on fire - rich, I say.
Brandy warms the throat like lifeboat wishes.
Go, I, into the freeze to pass away.

Palpable stars, they sting my open eyes.
I hate the dark, the screams of night, the saved.
No motherly lullaby of bye-byes.
Contrast the pier when Southampton waved.

Thank you! We all wonder of that ship, its voyage, its classes of rich and poor, its boasting, its newness, its tragedy, its choices, etc…

Brilliant exposition of a doomed ship, despite its luxury and useless blasphemies of a captain. Hugs.

The death grip was on the rich and poor.

The luxury and glamour of that vessel was not enough to provide safety to the passengers. In no time it sank into the nether world panicking and drowning the lives of innocent people.... one of the greatest tragedies that befell on those whose fate was to be drifted in the 'watery bier'. Great write, Kim. All the best.

The passengers left from Southampton as the crowd waved to those on the ship.

It must have been a terryfying experience and knowing death was coming in the sub zero temperatures of the Atlantic. Good luck in the contest Kim. Hope your new year is off to a good start. Tom
