Tiny Guiding Light

A little girl five years old Her hair a mess and dirty Looks up from a book on her bus With big brown tear filled eyes She says softly to the driver My daddy's always mad at me My mommy's always sad My big sister takes her pick To either hit or to ignore me most When God sent me to them from Heaven This isn't how it was supposed to be We were supposed to be so happy We were supposed to have so much fun Now I wish upon my heart that I was enough Enough to make my daddy proud To take away his rage Enough to stop the tears from falling To heal my mommy's heart Enough to make my sister like me So we can do each others make-up and hair Because that's what sister's do they are lifetime friends Instead everyday when I wake up My heart it is so sad I watch other families play I watch them laugh I watch them love Dreaming of the very first day when those families are us The driver say beside her, took off his old ball cap He told her child I know it's tough, right now it makes no sense But I hand picked you out of all the rest because of your loving heart You have exactly what this family needs amid the turmoil That's why I sent you here to make their world brighter You are my special gift, made especially for them To help bring them from the darkness To shine your light on them Sometimes it takes one tiny spark To set the soul ablaze And you my child you are the light To guide them on their way You are enough, you always were To the world you will always be So dry your eyes, be oh so brave And put your trust in me I promised you a life of love And it will come to be Never would I make you cry Without a life of joy You are a special soul Sent to heal these hearts I should know I created you You are my shining work of art
