Times Perpetual Troupe
TIMES PERPETUAL TROUPE
by
JOHN M. ARRIBAS
Ever wonder, if you are a member of a troupe
Acting different roles, yet never leave the loop
I often consider it possible, when I have a Deja Vo
Ago, someone else was me, could it have been you ?
Say there’s a thousand actors active in the cast
Filling different roles, now: and surely in the past
Often heard it said, everyone has a twin
One might be the other, the other might be him
I might have been Joan of Arc, Napoleon Bonaparte
Maybe Aaron, shooting Alexander in the heart
My neighbor might have been a soldier in WW2
Maybe the doctor that delivered me or you
The possibilities are endless, I’m sure we all agree
When an actor exits the play, his spirit is set free
To perform a new role, adapting, to a new identity
Stories of many sparring with multiple lives
Roles deeply ingrained, they continue to survive
Eerie to not know who you were or are
You might have been a viking, a movie star
Teacher, lawyer or just the local drunk
Passenger on the titanic, gruesomely sunk
See a stranger and think: I know that man
Is it body language, face, or a parallax scan
We sense prior actives not only with our eyes
Odors, music, sounds, noises often intensifies
To recalling scenes unfamiliar this day
Instant return, to a previous role and play
We are all actors in an endless production
Exiting the stage to an parallel dimension
Returning anew to an eternal prescription
That shapes and determines our present existence
