As another year comes closer to becoming the past, the duality of inside and outside one’s awareness, i.e., the conscious and subconscious realm of existence, continues to provide never ending debate and contemplation.  Some aficionados of the Zen Circle point to the similarity of white space inside and outside of the circle. The circle has created a duality of inside/outside that doesn't exist in reality.  Descartes perceived duality a bit different.  However, imagination—considering the phenomena of a black circle on a white page--begs the question: Is that which is inside also outside, and is not what is outside also inside? As within, so without. A real Zen master would erase the line and meditate upon the blank page…as perhaps we as writers do often. (Image by Dali

Time’s Echo by Odin Roark Arrest Your today, as you Allow The forgetfulness of tomorrow. Respect The pain of yesterday, as you Embrace The now which thrives not on the past. Seek Beneath the jewel of the moment. Cherish The facets of reflective memories. Reify The forever-resonant as halos above the abyss. Let free The shackles of attachment. For just as infinity knows but time’s echo, So too Creativity’s countenance seeks no end.
