Time Heals

When will that deafening silence stop
When will the gnawing craving disappear
And the pointless waiting stop

Is it a crime to have loved
Must I pay for having given freely
Must I be punished for having believed
Must I do time for having been so naïve

I was whole I felt great I thought I had it all
Then I met you
And that was the beginning of the end

Now I feel empty lost and in pain
If time heals it doesn’t heal fast enough
And all for a few precious superficial moments
For a short ride on the sea of illusion

"Short ride on the sea of illusion", must have been some ride to be short and leave so much pain. If had been longer might have killed more than your heart. Sad but beautiful. Congrats.

LOL Everything is relative, my dear... if it had lasted longer perhaps the departure might have been more mutual. LOL remembering craziness of youthful days. Thank you so much for your delightful visit and comment, Barbara.

great poem Line, I was hoping for more uplifting love. Not so much an ending of love. But nonetheless, really enjoyed it. Thank you for entering and congratulations on your placement...be blessed :)-luloo

The grass is greener on the other side of the fence. we cannot help who our heart falls in love with. Total true love between couples is truly a rare thing.

Hello Lin, oh the pain of a love gone wrong, no matter how long it lasted. Time does heal, but doesit slowly. Have a nice day my friend.

They say sorrow makes you wise - sometimes it's better to be foolish - very gripping and bittersweet, Line
