Timber

I am a tree
in a forest of many
petrified

people use me
for shade, warmth
to remember the moment
as they carve their names
upon my soul

Kindling they say
for I've no family
the forest is dense
and yet I stand lonely

I am ready
my final act
to perserve mankind
where art thou Paul Bunyon
